Hi all,
I underestimated the Ogg Vorbis user community, so here comes a next pre-release which should work better ;-) with Ogg Vorbis files:
http://www.luga.de/pytone/download/PyTone-3.0.0-pre2.tar.gz
In fact, it should work so well that I would appreciate to know whether tags like ReplayGain, tracknumber (partial/total), disknumber (partial/total), bpm, ... works. Just use a well-tagged file and check whether the information provided by the detailed file view (press "?") is complete. The documentation on these things is so scarce that I had to do quite some blind guessing.
Btw, please also test the completeness of information for MP3 files. If there are problems, please tell me whether you're using the mutagen or the eyeD3 module.
Have fun,
Joerg
PS: Dag, this should also fix a problem with the scanning of MP3 files. Please retest.

For all debian users I have some experimental packages provided at http://people.debian.org/~formorer/testing/. They are nearly untested, but I'm open for feedback :).
Thanks Jörg

Sorry for the late answer :-/
this pre-release *can* read the OGG files but there is still one problem: it can't read any special characters like á, é, ó, ñ and so on ... at least it does not display them neither in the filesystem list, the playlist or in the songinfo :-/
Btw. skipping support for playlists forces me to keep using 2.3.0 anyway since it is essential for my work as DJ and teacher :-/
Keep up the good work!
Thank you Stefan -- Stefan Wimmer swimmer@xs4all.nl

Hmm, could you please try whether this problem also exists with MP3 files.

I'm not sure what you mean with playlist support being skipped. You can readily create new playlists as before (they are not written as m3u files to the filesystem, but that shouldn't be a problem). And in order to append a playlist to the list of queued songs just use "i" as with any other directory.

Hi Jörg,
long time no see :)
Besides the problem with faster playing songs on my second sound device it is mainly the fact that m3u files are not supported anymore that retains me from trying and testing the new version :-/
I simply /need/ the export to m3u files since I use those playlists on my little Iriver as well when I'm on travel teaching and don't want to take with me the 'big' notebook! No way to get around that :(
Sorry that I answer _that_ late but I was kind of busy lately ...
Kind regards Stefam
