Hi folks,
the mailing list ist nearly dead for a longer time so I think its time to wake you all up. There is a list of open points on my list that still needs some fixing:
- Only playing with debug on. This bug is present for a longer time and still needs fixing.
- Some keys are not user definable. Alt-1-5 for example (rating of songs) can't be redefined. (This is bad because it clashes with screen).
- mp3 streams aren't supported :). (This is more a wish, but an old wish)
Thats all from here
Alex

You're right - the project has been pretty much in a dormant state for the last year. I apologize for that, but sometimes real life takes its toll.

This is a race condition which, I think, I found a fix for. I did not check this in the repository (don't ask me why).

As are all of the alt+a-z combinations. Making the Alt-1-5 configurable would be no big deal though.

This would require more work, and don't count on me for that, at least at the moment.
So the first two points could be addressed rather easily, and then a new release could be made. I'll promise to do my best.

No problem I know this well.

I forgot one problem. If you have a really huge playlist, say 20 Gigs. And you stop pytone with this list and start it again it tries to scan all files which takes the player up to 100% load for a long time. This can be really annoying for the user. They should be only scanned if you really need access to file, if it doesn't exists it should be skipped silently.
Thanks for all Alex

You mean really a playlist with a huge number of entries (as opposed to a database). I'm not sure why one would want to have that ;-)
There's actually much room for performance improvements at many places. But this is all not really trivial stuff and would require some subtantial work.

PS: The race condition has already been fixed in SVN (I forgot to do a checkout). I also quickly implemented the rating keybindings. I'll try to make a release until the weekend.
