Hi-
Has anyone had luck using PyTone on OSX? I've use PyTone in the past on my linux box (thanks, works great!), but ever since OGG support broke with iTunes in latest Mac updates, I have a serious interest in getting PyTone working (as I also have ~4000 songs and few other music players handle it well).
Anyway, I've done the following on the mac side (everything is working great on recent Ubuntu install on a different computer so I know it works with my collection, setups, etc):
1- Download pytone (2.2.4)
2- do the: "python setup.py build_ext -i" thing
3- "Fix" _bsddb problem on OSX (http://pythonmac.org/packages/ and put _bsddb.o into ..../python2.3/lib/)
4- update ~/.pytone/pytonerc to point to my music
5- Start PyTone, and no songs get loaded
...here's log snip:
I 08:25:40 Using configuration from file(s) /private/etc/pytonerc, /Users/rames/.pytone/pytonerc
W 08:25:40 disabling mixer since neither ossaudiodev nor oss module is installed I 08:25:40 PyTone 2.2.4 startup
I 08:25:40 Ogg Vorbis support disabled, since module is not present I 08:25:40 using integrated MP3Info module for id3 tag parsing
I 08:25:40 flac support disabled, since flac module is not present I 08:25:41 database main: basedir /Users/rames/muzak, 0 songs, 0 artists, 0 albums, 0 genres, 0 playlists
W 08:25:41 transparency support disabled because cursext module is not present W 08:25:41 terminal does not support disabling of cursor
I 08:25:43 database main: scanning for songs in /Users/rames/muzak I 08:25:43 database main: finished scanning for songs in /Users/rames/muzak
...which looks like it has the following problems:
1- No sound file support on OSX
2- No ogg support, since it's not finding any of my OGG's
Is this correct, or am I missing something?
Thanks again...

1- No sound file support on OSX
Looks like you need to get pyAo and libao installed and going.

2- No ogg support, since it's not finding any of my OGG's
Ditto for vorbis.

You will probally have to fix up issues with pyOgg and pyVorbis as well.
I don't have a Mac so I don't know if any of the above are actually usefull but its just what I found with google.
