Hello
I am using Pytone 2.2.3 on a Ubuntu system. Great work, I really like it!
Just two questions: - How do you delete a playlist, which was created with 'ctrl-w'? - Is it possible to add silence (e.g. a pause of 2 seconds) between songs?
Thanks for answering in advance. Regards, René

I thought it was possible by doing something like:
crossfading = on crossfadingstart = 0 crossfadingduration = 2
But I tested it and it didn't work.
Actually it would be nice if the current implementation would allow both crossfading and silence with the same set of options. E.g. if crossfadingstart is 0, then do not crossfade but silence for the duration of crossfadingduration.
This way the crossfading option is no longer useful, and we could only have:
crossfadestart = 0 intersongduration = 2 (there must be a better term)

This setting would mean that the crossfading process starts right at the end of the song.

Actually, I would propose to allow something like
crossfadingstart = -2 crossfadingduration = 2
which would mean that the fading in of the next song starts two seconds after the previous song has ended.
Note that setting "crossfading = off" would disable such a solution. In this sense, having an additional setting "songgap" would be preferable.
What do you think?

Exactly, that was what happened :)

If crossfadingduration = 0, wouldn't that mean crossfading is effectively off ? I would prefer to not have this option available.
Also, swapping negative and positive makes more sense to me as well. So crossfadingstart = -2 would mean that 2 songs are crossfaded and crossfadingstart = 2 would mean there is a gap.

Well - if there is the possibility to use an additional setting like "songgap" I'd prefer to use this one instead of messing around with the crossfading-settings ... (and be sure that I *will* mess around ;-) )

PS: This was slightly off-topic ... but what's about the topic? Are there any possibilities?

Well, that would have the same functionality as crossfadingduration, so why make a distinction. In the end we don't want to have options that are mutual exclusive and can create dubious situations.
That's why I would go to something like:
Crossfading disabled, 2 seconds silence Eg: AAAA BBBB songfade = 0 songgap = 2
Fade-out and fade-in of 2 seconds before the song ends, and 2 secs on song start-up. 4 seconds duration, no silence Eg: AAAaabbBBB
songfade = -2 songgap = 0
Fade-out and fade-in of 2 seconds, with 2 second pause in between. 6 seconds duration of which 2 seconds silence Eg: AAaa bbBB
songfade = -2 songgap = 2
Crossfading enabled, 2 second fade-out, 2 second fade-in, with 2 second overlap (1 second each) 4 seconds duration of which 2 seconds crossfade Eg: AAAaxxbBBB
songfade = -2 songgap = -2
I hope this explains it a bit. To me what still confusing is the fact that the songfade (or whatever other name) is counted twice (both for the fade-out and the fade-in), while the songgap is counted only once.
But with these 2 options you can describe all the different situations (at least where the fade-out and fade-in has the same duration, otherwise you need at least 3 options, which is less confusing but probably nobody cares about it).
What do people think about this ?

Works for me. Anyhow...
I think, it is not self-explanatory. So the config file has to be well documented.... :)
Why negative values for the songfade?
Kind regards, René

I wonder that too :) It's a mistake, songfade is just the seconds to fade-in and fade-out. Not negative. The songgap can be negative (to indicate crossfading).
Actually this explains it very well:
cross-fading: negative songgap in seconds silence between songs: songgap in seconds fade-out and fade-in: songfade in seconds
And:
songfade = 0 (no fade-out or fade-in) songgap = 0 (no silence added)
Seems pretty logical to me. Sorry for the confusion.
