Hi,
I've just uploaded the long-awaited PyTone 2.2.4 to the usual place:
http://www.luga.de/pytone/download/PyTone-2.2.4.tar.gz
This release restores the network functionality. Nnote that doing so, I've cleaned up the network configuration options a bit, so you may need to update your config files. It is now possible to display not only the currently selected song in the item info window but alternatively the song currently being played on the players. Various bugs have been fixed, for details see the attached portion of the ChangeLog.
I've included the AudioScrobbler plugin (provided by Nicolas Évrard) and plugins for displaying the currently playing song in the X11 terminal title bar and using the xosd program (contributed by Dag Wieers) in the distribution. Later on, they should probably be distributed separately. Alex Wirt already offered to setup a corresponding site.
Enjoy,
Jörg

Building and installing works fine. But it replaces your /etc/pytonerc file (when doing make install), which I now have to remake (and reformat :/). Checking for the file prior to replacing would be friendlier :)

Aii, and I was already waiting for your reformated version. I hope you have a backup.
You're right that distutils should complain when it overwrites config files. Right now it cannot because it even does not distinguish between pure data and config files. So at least I'm not entirely responsible for this fault. The only thing we could do is to take over the install_data step and make the check by ourselves.

Hi all,
it is indeed a little bit annoying - I noticed that already after the first reinstall but did not find it worth to mention it here because you can easily work around this bug ... but I'm afraid a lot of 'new' users of Pytone will be quite annoyed so it should be better to avoid overwriting of the precious config-file ;-)

My very personal wishlist for Pytone - just ignore it ;-) ========================================================= * BPS recognition Show the bits per seconds from a song in the MP3 info window
* Indicate time when playlist will stop Show not only the entire time a playlist will last but as well the daytime it will end :)
* Modifiable playlists Modify/delete playlists
* Pause between tracks
* Some sort of replaygain -- Stefan Wimmer swimmer@xs4all.nl
