Hi,
I downloaded and installed PyTone 2.1.2, but I have a couple of problems:
* music won't play!, I add some songs to the playlist, then I hit 'p' (or 'P'), but the program does nothing.
If I use '-d', the log shows this lines when I hit p
e/mrc/usr/PyTone-2.1.2/src/hub: event: keypressed(112) (priority 50) e/mrc/usr/PyTone-2.1.2/src/hub: event: playerstart('main') (priority 0)
* If I configure the xmms output, PyTone crashes at start:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "src/pytone.py", line 115, in ? playerids = [services.player.initplayer("main", config.player.main), File "/home/mrc/usr/PyTone-2.1.2/src/services/player.py", line 79, in initplayer raise RuntimeError("Cannot initialize %s player: type=xmms, session=%d" % (id, config.session)) RuntimeError: Cannot initialize main player: type=xmms, session=0
My Box: gentoo Python 2.3 alsa sound, with dmix support xmms 1.2.10 no arts, no esd
thanks

Have you looked whether there was a problem with opening the audio device (press ! after startup to see a corresponding message).

Ooops, it seems that the xmms module changed in an incompatible way since I have last tested this player. I'll have a look into this.
Thanks,
Jörg
Hi,

Actually, since version 2.0, the pyxmms module is a package and all the function needed by PyTone have been moved into xmms.control. The next version of PyTone will work with (and require) this new interface.

Hi,
Have you looked whether there was a problem with opening the audio device (press ! after startup to see a corresponding message).
the message window does not show any error:
I 21:12:19 PyTone startup I 21:12:19 using integrated MP3Info module for id3 tag parsing I 21:12:19 database main: basedir /opt/Archivos/musica, 1938 songs, 58 artists, 153 albums, 21 genres, 0 playlists I 21:12:20 Initialized oss mixer: device /dev/mixer, channel 4

I looked a bit more into the problems with xmms:
* pytone does not load the module, ¿could it be a naming conflict between the xmms module and the file xmms.py?
* if I rename the file src/services/players/xmms.py to xmmsplay.py (and its references in src/services/player.py): -> the xmms module loads -> xmms starts if neccesary, and obeys to the commands pytone sends -> but I have the same problem that with alsa or oss, I add songs to the playlist, I hit 'p', and nothing happens (same messages on the debug log, too)
me:
-> but I have the same problem that with alsa or oss, I add
songs to the playlist, I hit 'p', and nothing happens (same messages on the debug log, too)
It were a problem with the configuration, I had autoplay enabled for the main player, now it's fixed, (and works)

Hmm, are you sure that was the problem. I always have autoplay for the main player enabled and have no problems.

yes, It only plays the music with autoplay disabled.
the relevant portion in ~/.pytone/pytonerc :
[player.main] autoplay = false
#type = internal #driver = alsa #device = default #bufsize = 100 #crossfading = off #crossfadingstart = 5 #crossfadingduration = 6
#type = xmms #session = 0 #noqueue = false
#type = mpg123 #cmdline = /usr/bin/mpg321 --skip-printing-frames=5
type = internal driver = oss device = /dev/dsp bufsize=100 #crossfading=off
[player.secondary] autoplay = true type = off

You also have to replace xmms by xmms.control. I've already done that - you just have to wait for the next version.
